Early Childhood Parent & Student Handbook

As a parent, you are your child's first and most important teacher. Your child will learn more during the early years than at any other time in life. How your child grows and learns during these years -- beginning at birth -- will affect his or her later development and success in school.

Parents participating in Parents as Teachers (PAT) will gain knowledge in language development, intellectual growth, motor skills, and the parent-child relationship.

When enrolled in North Kansas City Parents as Teachers, families with children birth to three years of age will receive FREE:

• Certified parent educator home visits
• Health screening
• Developmental screening
• Group meetings
• Invitations to events with speakers and authors
• Parents as Teachers (Birth to Three) newsletter

When enrolled in North Kansas City Parents as Teachers, families with children three to five years of age will receive FREE:

• Certified parent educator home visit (one per year)
• Activity meetings
• Health screening
• Developmental screening
• Activity meetings
• Invitations to events with speakers and authors
• Parents as Teachers (Three to Five) newsletter
