Dear Wonderful Briarcliff
Families,
I hope that this newsletter finds you getting ready to enjoy time with some friends and family throughout this Holiday season!
It is hard to believe that we are already at this point in the school year!
As many of you may be aware (especially in grades 3-5), students have been taking a series of Mid year tests.
One of the assessments is called SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) and the other is STAR MATH.
Both assessments give us some pretty good information in regards to student growth from the beginning of the year until now.
You may have also heard about some motivational videos that were used to “pump up” the kids and provide incentives for them to do their very best!
Well, it seemed to work! Grades 3-5 all met their STAR math goal and will now be facing several staff members in a game of dodge ball when they return from the Winter break!
We also met one of our SRI goals so students will also be earning an extra recess when they return from break as well.
The whole idea behind this is that just like Adults, students thrive on being rewarded when a job is well done.
We are going to continue to find ways this year to motivate all kids to do their very best in reaching their classroom goals.
I am looking forward to our next Breakfast with Books and Principal Coffee Talk on Friday, January 22nd. The coffee talk will begin around 9:30 and last for approximately an hour. I hope to see a large turnout! As always, if you have any questions about what we are doing at Briarcliff to provide our students with the very best education, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Happy New Year!
